![]() Throughout your time in the household you witness the father being verbally abusive to his daughter. One of the sections of the game takes place in a household with an abusive father and his young daughter. Try an introduce them to games suitable to their experience level. This game contains depictions of violence towards vulnerable and defenceless human characters. ![]() Modern games often rely on the player already being fluent in the "language of gaming", and what's obvious to a gamer may be completely foreign to everyone else. This may depend on how much they've played in the past. If you can identify a genre they're good at, they can likely handle a more intense experience without getting frustrated or freaked out. One thing about "scary" games is they seem a lot less scary when the player feels empowered and competent. Are they creative? Try Concrete Genie or Dreams which is like a creative sandbox with no limits, and which also allows them to play the Dreams created by others, so it's an infinite fountain of games to play. Minecraft of course is available, or try Dragon Quest Builders 2 for something Minecrafty with narrative for a change of scenery. If your sisters are a bit more sheltered, try Spiderman, Ratchet and Clank, or the Spyro trilogy. My 12 year old son plays "scary and violent" games, but he was raised around them, so they are not shocking to him. The same games 10 year old boys would enjoy. Probably too many suggestions, but I wanted to add stuff that others haven't so far! Spyro/Crash Bandicoot/Sonic Racing etc.Plus what other people have already mentioned here: some of the old retro Capcom stuff like Castlevania, Contra, Beat 'Em Up Bundle, etc., plus Pacman, Tetris, Sonic Mania, etc.ĭepends on how you feel about violence and context, but I feel Horizon Zero Dawn is basically fine, and inspiring, except maybe for very young or sensitive children.Cuphead (notoriously difficult and challenging, but a lot of fun).Axiom Verge (same age rating as Dead Cells).Dead Cells (is rated for older kids, but is a retro platformer, so graphics are pixelated).Headlander (stupid fun, with some annoying puzzles). And there's a lot of reading and the odd glitch here and there (nothing bad). There's no real fighting, although it is scary trying to avoid the guard rats in dark castles. It's a really involving story, great characters and unique gameplay (basically a stealth game where you're a mouse in a medieval fantasy setting). Haven't seen anyone else mention Ghost of A Tale (1 player).
